I live a fairly unusual lifestyle. I'm not one of these people who insists on a certain kind of existence - mine varies from one moment to the next. I worked in the Diplomatic Service for a few years where 5-star hotels and dinner with the President of France was part of the normal routine, whereas a couple of days later, I'd be sleeping on the back seat of a car in a layby on the side of the road. Strangely enough, I was more at home on the back seat of the car too.

My civilian life these days varies between living in the attic of a derelict farmhouse that I am slowly restoring with nothing but a couple of wind turbines and solar panels for company, and sleeping in the back of a van, with occasional trips to the far-flung corners of the globe thrown in for good measure.
